How I built it
The Challenge
Financial reporting often involves analysing revenue, profitability, budgets and forecasts separately, making it harder to identify performance gaps and anticipate future outcomes.
I developed this four-page Power BI demonstration to show how financial information can be transformed into a connected, decision-ready management reporting solution.
My Approach
The dashboard brings together an executive financial overview, product and regional profitability, budget variance analysis and interactive forecast scenarios.
The aim was to make it easy to move from high-level KPIs to the underlying drivers of financial performance.
DAX & Technical Methods
- Financial measures: Total Revenue, Gross Profit, Gross Margin %, Net Contribution and Budget Variance.
- Time intelligence: Year-on-year comparisons using DAX measures such as
CALCULATE,DIVIDEandSAMEPERIODLASTYEAR. - Date modelling: Fiscal-year reporting, monthly comparisons and period-based analysis.
- Variance analysis: Actual versus budget comparisons across months, products and regions.
- Scenario modelling: Adjustable forecast assumptions to assess upside and downside financial outcomes.
- Interactive reporting: Slicers, dynamic KPIs, comparative charts and executive summaries.
